Southwest Coast Path

Self Guided Tours

south west coast path The Southwest Coast Path from Minehead at sea level, climbing swiftly up to Countisbury Head at 1000ft, where Exmoor meets the sea, with dramatic effect. This is the start of the longest and undoubtedly the most interesting and rewarding coastal path in England, if not the whole of the U.K.

A coast of contrasts, after heathery Exmoor, the South West Coast Path descends to the green lush landscape of Devon, bluebells, wild daffodils, primroses and foxgloves adorn its paths and byways in the spring and summer, whilst in the late summer and autumn, honeysuckle, in the woods and among the hedgerows fills the air with pungent aromas. Ancient scrub oak woods cling to the cliffs tops, sculptured by the winter westerly winds.

Picturesque villages and tiny hamlets, isolated cottages, meandering streams and sandy beaches, the South West Coast Path winds its way through North Devon. Rising out of the sea some miles off is Lundy Island, well worth a day exploring.

Cornwall, gorse topped jagged cliffs, spectacular rock formations and sandy coves, ancient fishing villages and abandoned old tin Mines. These are the delights awaiting you on your walking holiday on the South West Coast Path.

The South West Coast Path through South Devon offers a much gentler landscape with rolling hills, pretty cottages and sandy beaches.

Finally Hardy country, Jurassic cliffs and shingle beaches, England's green and pleasant land! Thomas Hardy Country, you can almost feel "Far from the madding crowd".
